Kapurthala is famous for its green wetlands Kanjli situated on Kapurthala-Subhanur road. To revive it as tourist destination Kapurthala District Administration organized Baisakhi Mela. It was well organised and appreciated by the general public. The revival of 20 years old legacy is a welcome step by district administration.

It is organised by Indian Red Cross Society, Kapurthala. Sh Vishesh Sarangal, I.A.S, Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala inaugurated the Mela.

College and School students participated in different cultural programs and competition was organised for Fancy dress, wrestling etc.

The performance of Bhangra, Giddha and Folk songs by singers were main attraction.

The Weeds from Kanjli wetlands were also removed and the remaining work is in progress. The administration wish to attract the tourists by bringing fun and entertaining activities in future.

The children enjoyed the opportunity of horse riding, eating at different food stalls. Children and public was thrilled by experience the traditions of Punjab through Giddha, Bhangra, puppet shows, Sufi songs, folk songs etc.

The regular events of similar types will surely enhance the visibility of Kanjli wetlands. The fresh water in the Kanlji Bein is essential for lasting glory.
