Punjab is a land hallowed by saints and scarred by battles, an ancient land yielding archaeological treasures, a land of palaces and museums with places of historical and cultural interest. The state's outstanding architectural monument is the Shri Harimandir Sahib, or Golden Temple, at Amritsar, which is the chief temple of the Sikhs. There is also the Hindu Temple of Durgiana at Amritsar and an outstanding mosque at Kapurthala.

Chandigarh is the capital of Punjab. It was designed by the Swiss-born French architect Le Corbusier. The major tourist attractions here are: Rock Garden, Rose Garden, Sukhana Lake and Museum and Art gallery.

Amritsar, is major city of Punjab, was founded by Guru Ramdas the fourth Guru of the Sikhs in the year 1579.Places to see here are Golden Temple, Akal Takhat, Tower of Baba Atal Rai, Jallianwala Bagh, Durgiana Mandir( Temple), Summer Palace Of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Ram Tirath, Harike Wetland.

Kapurthala, City of wonderful architecture and beautiful gardens and once called the Paris of Punjab because of its cleanliness and planned township. Kapurthala have many famous tourist attractions which include Sainik School ( Jagatjit Palace) similar to Palace of Versilles, Panj Mandir, Jagatjit Club( typical Greece-Roman specimen), Moorish Mosque, Shalimar Garden, Nihal Palace, Kanjli Wetland 5 Kms. away from Kapurthala City is surrounded by natural scenery, is a home migratory birds in Winter. The Sikh shrines related to Guru Nanak at Sultanpur Lodhi include historic Ber Sahib Gurdwara.

Patiala was the capital of erstwhile pricncely state of Patiala. The places worthy of visiting are the Motibagh Palace, Sheesh Mehal and the Bees Moti Bagh Sanctuary.

Ludhiana an important industrial city, is known as the Manchester of India. It is famous the world over for its hosiery goods. The famous Punjab Agricultural University (P.A.U.) is situated on the outskirts of the city. Rural Olympics of Qila Raipur, Chhapper Mela and Kissan Mela at PAU attracts lakhs of visitors every year.

Jalandhar is the modern industrial town of Punjab, is famous for its sports goods & handtools industry. Places to see here a Jama Masjid, Mausoleum of Imam Nasir, Devi Talab, Shiva Temple.

Anandpur Sahib is located on the banks of the River Sutlej, is an important place of pilgrimage. It was here that Guru Gobind Singh baptised the first five members of the Sikh faith known as the Panch Pyaras.
